Leder = leather; Hosen = pants. Typically shorts and have suspenders with a crosspiece over the chest.

I thought you weren't going to tell.

Actually, as the child of German immigrants, they were considered dress-up clothes for special occaisions. I can't remember wearing any after the age of 10, however.
