Has anyone else had this problem: I start a large puzzle, like this one, get part way through solving it, and then get java script errors that hang my browser, and I lose everything? It's happened once so far. I'm going to try again (and do more frequent saves). Just wondering if it's just me. Only happens with very large puzzles.

Update: I was able to finish this puzzle! Very cute! I figured out that it hung at the same square/squares each time. To get around it, I ignored those couple of squares and completed the rest of the puzzle and came back to it later and it worked just fine. I guess you can call me a "happy friend" now too :)

If you have checking turned on, large puzzles can have extremely long times for checking. This is liable to happen if you change a pixel in the middle ofa line that has lots of short spans (usually 1's). You can kill the browsing session and start the puzzle again (or hope that the check finishes in less than hours or years and wait), then turn off checking.

The super long delay comes from how the checking is implemented - with lots of ones, you can get an exponential number of layouts to try before determining whether the current partial layout is valid. To a certain extent, the problem is unavoidable.

Thank you, Diane. I too, learned a work-around while creating. When I save, i get errors, but if I exit and come back, it has saved correctly. go figure.
