Annalivia, I grew up just a few miles away from Fallingwater and have been there more times than I can count (as a matter of fact, in two weeks I'm taking my 10 year old on a road trip for him to see it in person for the first time). I wanted to tell you that there is a SECOND Frank Lloyd Wright house only 3 miles away from Fallingwater which also offers tours. It's called Kentuck Knob, and most people don't even know it exists. It's still privately owned by a wealthy Brit who bought it from the Hagen's, the original owners. He's rarely there, so tours are offered most of the time.
The two houses really complement each other well, as Fallingwater was a radical new direction in FLW's designs and marked the first foray into his idealized usonian concepts (even though - unlike the usonians - Fallingwater was a large home for a wealth client), and Kentuck Knob was one of his last commissions (he never even visited the site), and shows how the ideas he first played with at FW evolved and matured.

amyfaith, I am envious! :-), but happy for you and for your son who gets to see this marvel of architecture with his mom!#14: Joel Lynn (furface1) on Jul 14, 2011
thanks for the info on kentuck knob!
A beautiful place and puzzle!#15: BlackCat (BlackCat) on Mar 26, 2018
It was a fun solve. The image is very abstract. With the explanation, the image becomes very clear.
