IEL C22 places 4 blacks in the 5 clue.
R13-19: if any of C5 in these rows is black, it would also place black in C11. Since the available clue in C11 is a 7, any black in these rows would make all of these rows black. Therefore, R13-19 C7 are black.
IEL R22 determines the 8 clue can't extend to the right or it contradicts in R23.

Just noticed that there's a non-obvious white that can be marked via LL at R23 C18, which leads to a bunch more LL. I don't think that changes the necessity of anything above, but I'm not entirely certain.

C19-21: You have a 2 clue available in C19 and a 1 clue in each of C20-21. This allows you to white out R30 in this column to avoid a contradiction in R31.
R39: Whichever way the first 2 clue goes, black extends to R38 in either C5 or C7. Either way, R38 C6 is white, since the available clue in that row is a 1. (R38 C4 is also white.)
R41: Regardless of which the 2 clue goes, there is a 3 clue in that column to extend upward. R40 C13-14 and R39 C14 are white. This doesn't seem to help much and may not be necessary.
C4: No matter how the remaining clues are placed, R38 C5 is white. After doing the resulting LL it's even more apparent that the 2 clues in C5 go in R25-26 and R32-33 OR in R33-34 and R36-37. Any remaining rows in C5 are definitely white, and R33 C5 is definitely black.

Finally I'm stuck here; I don't see a moderate lookahead path forward at the moment. I may revisit later to see if I can find anything else.

Do you have any suggestions?

Very good puzzle. Deceptively difficult. Thanks

It solved right along until I got to the final few squares. I was able to place a few things with inner edge logic and knowing that some 1s would have to go in one of the 2 ways some of the 2s had to go. But eventually I was stuck. I could tell just based on the picture where things would go, and tried to logically eliminate some square I knew would have to be white based on the picture and just couldn't do it without going so deep it became trial and error. (Basically the inner ear and left-most part of his eye and his cheekbone.)

Fashion tip for a sophisticated casual look: Wear a leather jacket over a turtle neck. It takes it from super preppy to intellectually edgy. Likewise, a leather jacket can make someone look like they have an attitude, depending on the style, but the high-necked sweater mellows it out. The best part about it all is that this is not just for women. I've seen men and women alike look great layering these two together. Overall, it gives the wearer an air of being smart and confident, and it just looks so good.

Enjoyable both with the story and the solve. Did have to guess a couple of times. The image is fun though I don't understand the scowl.

Fabulous image. Quite a fun solve. Some guessing, but the solution was worth it!!

Looks like I may have missed a step in my 2018 hint: In R39, the first 2 will either start a 2 in C5 or a 3 in C7. Either way we can mark R38C6 white. This seems to come somewhere before the last step I posted back then, but it doesn't seem to impact any of the earlier steps I listed.

R24: Whether the 2nd 1 goes into C4 or C6, R26C6 is black. LL.

C8: If the 8 goes into R29, then R29 C7 and C9 would be marked white, and at least one of the first 3s in R30-31 would need to go into C7. However, this makes C7 invalid, so we can mark R29C8 white.

LL to finish. Took me 5 years, but I got there. ;)
