This is an excellent site.
Have you considered making these puzzles exportable to Excel?
For me they are much more convenient to work if I can put them on an Excel spreadsheet.

I don't actually know how one makes a pbn puzzle in Excel. I'm not much of a spreadsheet user. Maybe if someone could supply me with an example of a .xls file with a puzzle in it I could figure out whether I can generate them.

What about just making the cells squares and changing the background color of the cell? I'm certain it could be done using VB in Excel for windows but you would run into a problem when importing it into Excel on a Mac, Microsoft didn't include that functionality with office for Mac.

I actually did this quite a few years ago using only conditional formatting.
It only did monochrome and there was no error checking, but it was a lot easier than erasing. (I made it for larger, complicated puzzles that I had already screwed up.)

I don't have excel on my this computer, and for some reason the conditional logic is screwed up on open office, so I'll have to dig around and see if I can locate one in my "archives".
